Central Bank president Durmus Yilmaz stated: “The transition period is almost over. TL (Turkish Lira) will now be in the markets as of January 1st.
All labels will be in TL and Kurush starting from January 1st, while the YTL (New Turkish Lira) will continue to be in effect up until December 31st, 2009. CB president Durmus Yilmaz stated that the majority of citizens are unaware of the change according to a survey carried out by the CB and added: “Only 31% of the citizens know about the transition.”
